Retailers sometimes sold MAG 257 as a hotel or second-room MAG device. Internally it speaks the same portal language as MAG 256. If the sticker says MAG 257, tell WhatsApp exactly that so firmware notes match.
No built-in Wi-Fi on most MAG 257 boards. Use Ethernet or a known-good MAG USB dongle. Then run the MAG portal test; a compact case does not mean a weaker MAG portal, only a tighter power budget.
