MAG Portal for MAG 254
MAG 254 is the MAG device most people mean when they say MAG box. mag-portal.com still treats it as a first-class MAG portal client, not a relic.

Infomir’s MAG 254 shipped with HDMI, Ethernet, a USB port for a Wi-Fi dongle, and Linux firmware built around a MAG portal URL. That single-field workflow is why MAG 254 outlived dozens of Android sticks: grandparents can reboot it, and the MAG portal comes back without an app store.
HEVC on MAG 254 is generation-limited. A well-built MAG portal offers MAG 254 a Full HD profile instead of throwing UHD playlists at a 2013 chipset. That is the difference between a MAG portal that “supports MAG 254” in a bullet list and a MAG portal that actually boots on the hardware.
UK and US households still search MAG portal and MAG 254 together because the box is in the cabinet. If yours shows the Infomir splash then a blank portal, the URL is wrong or the old server is gone — not the MAG device. Request a MAG portal test, paste the new address, reboot once.
Keep MAG 254 if Ethernet is available and Full HD is enough. Move to MAG 256 W2 for native Wi-Fi, or MAG 424w3 / MAG 520w3 when the TV is 4K. All of those MAG devices use the same MAG portal habit; only the URL we issue changes.
