Wi-Fi 5 dual-band is why MAG 424w3 replaced a lot of MAG 256 W2 + 4K-TV combinations that never quite worked. It is still a MAG device: portal URL, Infomir remote, no app zoo.
Put MAG 424w3 on 5 GHz. If the MAG portal test stutters, move the access point or drop a cheap powerline/Ethernet adapter — do not jump to a 24-month MAG portal plan on a wounded wireless hop.
